Well I thought maybe it was time for this weeks sketch theme! I was just talking to my wife about stuff i did as a kid and all that and it had me thinking about when i was in school. So i thought we should do a moment as a kid that we remember most. First fight in school, the first girl you wrote a love letter to, the first school dance you rocked your high top fade and hammer pants....whatever it maybe. I'll have something up this week.

I found a great Photoshop tutorial that comes pretty close to the technique I was taught. I thought I'd share.

Have fun!

Better late then never. Here's my old school monster pic. Especially made for the Sketchbook All Stars, my favorite monster, the Creature from the Black Lagoon!!! I thought it might be cool to share my drawing proccess with yall also. Ofcourse (as will be the case with anything I draw) I'm open to any, and all comments. Peace!

I call this one the Digital MC. I think I over did the microhone on his arm. Hope you can see it. This is where hip hop and space fantasy collide!

BabaDawud!
This is Silph. A battle droid I have reactivated after about 10 years of dormancy. Say hello, Silph.

I've been playing around with different color combinations. Sometimes it comes to me and sometimes it doesn't. I'm still searching.

False Life....

I'm going to paint this up and try to have it for early next week. Peace.

First time sketching in flash nothing special, more to come...

For this next sketch jam I submit the next topic, as seen in this photo, robots and andriods. As in previous sketch jamz the only criteria here is the subject matter. It doesnt matter whether it's a rough sketch or your latest master piece. Just as long as it's an artificial automaton of some kind. Do not draw the one on the right. He is not a robot. He is an actor. A very, very annoying actor. Now go draw something!

Sup all. I have just not had the time to tighten this up yet. I will go to ink and color next week when I'm finished the freelance gig I'm working on. One.

Hey everybody! My names Randolph, and this is my Black Wonder Woman. First off, I know this ain't as good as the other stuff posted for this subject, but it's the best I could do with the time I had to do it. And besides that I don't draw women very well (It's a weak point I'm working on). I'll do more than a quick sketch next time, I promise.

Now on to the concept. I wanted to convey that all impowered black women can be wonder women. I wanted to stray away from the bright costume and magic lasso, and focus on the every-day woman asserting her power. Walking the streets in this modern era, knowing who she is, where she came from, and believing in her own potential. She is Wonder Woman. because she has put her work in to be. She teaches other women how to find the Amazon in themselves.

Well there it is. I've got a "Creature from the Black Lagoon" coming too. I know It's late, but I really want to draw it. Peace!

(WARNING: GEEK OUT MOMENT!!!)

Dawud, I'm a huge fan of your work! Brother Man was a great inspiration to me, and heavily influenced my work. Not only for what you did, but how you did it, thank you! It's one of the reasons why I'm persuing self-publishing.

OK, that is all.

I call her SISTA MAAT. To be honest I tend not to make pre-existing characters Black but for the All-Stars there is the exception to the rule. I did the rough in about 10 minutes during lunch but took the time to paint it after work. I call her MAAT as the symbol on her breastplate reflects the ancient Kemetic symbol of Truth, Justice, Reciprocity, Propriety and Balance. I even put her in a semi-yoga position without trying to get too deep. I still had fun with this. Glad to be able to finally get something posted up here with the rest of the crew!

Dah!

I know everybody is crazy busy lately but based on the response I got when i started inviting people to this blog I had expected alot more input. There are a number of links and a list of contributors that I added to this blog for no other reason than to help support the exposure of the artists involved. A mere fraction of the names that appear on Sketchbook Allstars have even bothered to comment on the art let alone post art themselves. I have been asked by active members of this blog to establish a rule where individuals who are not participating in the blog are to be be dropped from the contributors list. So rather than going around and harrassing people to get them to post art on Sketchbook Allstars ( I hate doing that) I will begin deleting members at the end of january. Like I said in the introduction, your involvement can be as simple as a comment on someone else's work, it can be a rough sketch, tight sketch, painting etc. It's not a job. If you dont read this then you arent really involved anyway so you wont mind being dropped.

I figure I'd post for this last sketch jam although I didn't get it to a level I wanted to get it to.
Post any off topic random crapola here
