A huge talent… A former San Diego Charger, Barnes was christened "Big Rembrandt" by his teammates. He was a master of gesture and emotion which can be seen in classics like "Sugar Shack," the title painting for the 70's sitcom "Good Times."
Apparently, he never painted his subjects with their eyes open. “We don't see each other," he was quoted explaining "we are blind to each other's humanity."
He was 70 years old.
