Sketch Book Allstars: Buffalo Soul ...

With the help of some friends, I have compiled a roster of talented artists to contribute to a weekly sketch jam by invitation only. Every week or so we will settle on an idea and will each take a stab at illustrating the concept. The level of completion can be anything from a rough sketch to a finished rendering. This blog is intended, for those who are involved, to be an opportunity to challenge one another, to challenge ourselves, and to connect with our contemporaries in the field.

Buffalo Soul ...

what's up fam!
here's a illustrator joint i finished recently called "Buffalo Soul" about the Buffalo Soldiers. it was commisioned by one of my clients, but in doing the research, i became fascinated with the subject. let me know what y'all think!

Mr.Magoo said...: I couldn't put my finger on it until now. I love the pose and idea but the colors seem kind of ordinary to me. They don't speak to the drama of the subject matter. I think the coloring deserves a much more reverent approach. Just my opinion.; 8:21 AM

sometimes i get lucky, but
i think in black and white.
