These first 2 are Three 6 Mafia character designs for Sony BMG. The project is dead though. I was going to do a comicbook to go with their new album but they changed the direction and concept. Oh well. I got paid anyway! Hurray for kill fees!!! that last piece is just a cool 70's cat I did for shits n giggles. Sorry I haven't posted more but most of the stuff I've been doing lately can't be shown til it hits the stands. I'll post it when I can. Peace.

Though I have to question more images of rappers and guns. Not something people talk about, but one that I do take personally. The promotion of a culture of violence, that sold a generation down the river.

True that homie but it's funny. Arnold and Sly and them cam hold all the guns they want, kill men and women and our society holds them up as heroes. Scarface and the Godfather are film classics that win awards but when black people tell criminal tales in the same mediums it's a problem. Sounds like a double standard to me. Hip Hop is an easy target. instead of beefing about the entertainment out there the people in power should go into our communities and address the reasons why we spit about drugs and guns.CAUSE IT'S ALL WE SEE!!!!!!! FUCK A RECORD FIX THAT!!!!!!!! That's my 2 cent and besides I love drawin' thugs with guns!!!!! LOL!!!
Without getting too involved, the difference is that Arnold and Sly are not actually criminals. Neither have been charged with murder, or drug trafficking, or prostitution, etc...
They can do movies about killing tons of people because they're just "movies". There is no real-life element.
It's not a double-standard. Will Smith had a high body-count on the Bad Boys films and I heard no outcry. Denzel enjoys the same immunity. What's the difference? Both are actors and in real life are not criminals.
But many rappers do have serious criminal convictions that they brag about. They shoot videos from inside prison cells. They wear prison dress. They glorify the money, drugs and women. The problem is that they aren't talking about the Matrix, they are talking to predominantly the under-30 set about the way people actually live.
White kids listen, black kids learn. Predominantly young men, many father-less, who are most marginalized in society and most risk. The most impressionable. The most easily manipulated.
Governments should address the problems of the black community? The same 'kill the pigs' community that shoot at them and refuse to cooperate with them even about criminals in their own backyard?
If black artists don't care enough to speak out about the violence and state of those areas, what do you expect from government either in the US or CAN? Before an episode of Jackass, there is a disclaimer. Has anyone ever seen a major rapper disclaim the work as fiction? They know what's going on in the communities. But they're making money, so it's someone else's problem.
This is already way too much, and has nothing to do with the artwork in question. Just wanted to get that off my chest.
